LA Wildfire Victims Can Apply for Rent Relief Starting December 17

Los Angeles residents affected by recent wildfires will be able to apply for rent relief assistance beginning December 17, officials announced this week.

The program aims to help families displaced by fires that devastated parts of the region, including areas in Pacific Palisades and Altadena. Many victims continue to struggle with finding temporary housing while their homes are rebuilt or as they search for new permanent residences.

The rent relief program represents one component of the ongoing recovery effort. Local, state, and federal agencies have been coordinating to provide various forms of assistance to affected residents.

For Inglewood residents who may have family or friends affected by the fires, or who may be hosting displaced relatives, the relief program offers an important resource. The housing shortage created by the disasters has rippled throughout the region.

November 2025 was notably wet, with 5.53 inches of rain falling in downtown Los Angeles—the most for a November since 1967. While welcome for drought relief, the rain created additional challenges for areas affected by fires, including increased mudslide risk in burn scar zones.
