The Compton Cowboys brought a unique wellness experience to the 2025 Stagecoach Country Music Festival through a special collaboration with Nashville-based record label Gravel Road, offering festivalgoers a peaceful retreat amid the high-energy event.

The “Equine Wellness Experience,” a calming space tucked inside the bustling festival grounds in Indio, invited attendees to connect with horses and participate in mindfulness workshops focused on confidence and communication. The initiative represents an expansion of the Compton Cowboys’ mission beyond their home base in Richland Farms.

“I wanted to lean a little more into the mental health side for musicians and artists,” explained Anthony Martini, co-founder of Gravel Road. “Horses offer so many therapeutic benefits. We wanted to bring something different and calming to the desert, something that also raises awareness.”

While the Compton Cowboys have maintained a presence at previous Stagecoach festivals, this year’s collaboration deepened their impact by emphasizing the therapeutic benefits of equine interaction. The wellness space, called “The Corral,” was curated by wellness advocate Maritt Peterson and equine behavior expert Patrick Dunn.

The partnership between the Compton-based equestrian group and Gravel Road developed through a personal connection between Martini and Randy Savvy, one of the Cowboys’ founders. After visiting the ranch in Compton, Martini was inspired to help bring their work to a wider audience.

“When I first met Randy, it was so inspiring,” Martini said. “Visiting the ranch in Compton was transformative. You wouldn’t expect a place like that in the middle of Los Angeles, it feels like it could be in Montana. It’s a zen space in the middle of a massive city.”

Throughout the weekend, festival attendees could see artists making appearances at The Corral, participating in activities that blended country music culture with the grounding nature of horsemanship. The space remained lively with DJ sets while still maintaining its focus on wellness and mindfulness.

For the Compton Cowboys, whose mission centers on preserving cowboy culture in the urban environment of Compton while providing positive alternatives for local youth, the Stagecoach platform offers significant exposure. The group continues to expand their influence beyond South Los Angeles through these high-profile partnerships and appearances.

According to Martini, this collaboration at Stagecoach represents “just the beginning” of a larger wellness initiative that Gravel Road hopes to develop further, potentially creating a dedicated mental health resource within their company to support artists.
