A major coalition is working to ensure South Los Angeles communities, including Inglewood, benefit from the massive influx of investment and development headed to the region before the 2028 Olympics, addressing longstanding racial and socioeconomic inequities through a comprehensive anti-poverty initiative.

The South LA All In Initiative (SLAAI), launched in late 2023, brings together community organizations, local government, and residents to empower those who have historically been left behind by major development projects. The effort focuses on workforce development, affordable housing, and ensuring local businesses can participate in Olympic-related economic opportunities.

The initiative’s urgency is underscored by data showing the South LA All In area scores just 1 out of 10 on the Community Development Index—one-fifth lower than the LA County average of 5. This measurement illustrates the significant need for increased investment across education, housing, employment, and community services.

As Inglewood and neighboring communities undergo dramatic transformation with SoFi Stadium, Intuit Dome, and other Olympic venues, organizers are determined to prevent the displacement and economic exclusion that has accompanied previous large-scale developments in South Los Angeles.

The Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) is playing a leading role, offering workforce development programs and supportive services designed to connect South LA residents with Olympic construction jobs and long-term career opportunities. Recent orientations at the Vernon-Central/LATTC WorkSource Center provide direct pathways to employment.

CRCD’s mission encompasses education, workforce development, supportive housing, and community services specifically targeting low-income residents in South Los Angeles. The organization’s comprehensive approach addresses multiple barriers that have historically prevented community members from accessing economic opportunities.

The Los Angeles Collaborative’s upcoming Catalyst to Impact Regional Summit on October 27, 2025, at Antelope Valley College will bring together stakeholders to discuss strategies for equitable development across the region, with particular emphasis on Olympic preparation.

For Inglewood residents, the initiative represents both protection against displacement and opportunity for advancement. Programs aim to ensure longtime community members can afford to stay in their homes while accessing new job opportunities created by Olympic infrastructure development.

Community advocates emphasize that the 2028 Olympics should benefit the people who have called South Los Angeles home for generations, not just outside investors and developers. The South LA All In Initiative works to make that principle a reality through direct services and policy advocacy.
