Inglewood’s Intuit Dome Named One of TIME’s 2025 World’s Greatest Places
Inglewood’s newest architectural marvel, the Intuit Dome, has secured its place among TIME Magazine’s 2025 World’s Greatest Places list, adding another prestigious recognition to the city’s growing reputation as a global entertainment destination.
The $2 billion venue, which opened its doors in August 2024, has quickly become a centerpiece of Inglewood’s cultural and economic renaissance, joining SoFi Stadium and the historic Forum in transforming the city’s entertainment district.
For Inglewood residents, the recognition represents more than just acclaim for a building—it symbolizes the community’s ongoing transformation and increasing prominence on the world stage.
Community Impact and Benefits
Beyond hosting LA Clippers games, the Dome has already made significant contributions to the local community. In January, it hosted the FireAid benefit concert featuring Billie Eilish, Joni Mitchell, and a special Nirvana reunion, raising an estimated $100 million to support rebuilding efforts in Los Angeles communities affected by recent wildfires.
“The Intuit Dome has already demonstrated its value as more than just a sports venue,” said Councilmember Regina Williams of Inglewood’s 2nd District. “It’s become a gathering place that supports our wider community in times of need, while creating jobs and economic opportunities for local residents.”
The venue’s construction, which began in September 2021 near the corner of Century Boulevard and Prairie Avenue, created hundreds of local jobs, with special hiring initiatives targeting Inglewood and Compton residents.
Local Art and Cultural Representation
One of the Dome’s most celebrated features is its extensive public art collection showcasing works by local artists from Inglewood, Compton, and greater Los Angeles. Visitors can experience murals, sculptures, and digital displays that celebrate the cultural diversity and creative spirit of the surrounding communities.
“Having my work displayed in such a globally recognized venue means everything,” said Marcus Johnson, an Inglewood-based artist whose mural is featured in the main concourse. “It shows that our stories and our perspectives matter, and it gives local artists a platform we might not otherwise have.”
Features and Sustainability
TIME Magazine highlighted the venue’s technological innovations, including its “frictionless” concession purchases and entry system using facial recognition via the Dome’s app. The arena also features what’s known as “The Wall,” a 51-row section with special rules designed to create an exceptional home-court advantage.
For environmentally conscious residents, the Dome’s LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council represents a commitment to sustainability. The venue is designed to be carbon neutral, featuring solar panels and water conservation measures including low-flow faucets, drought-tolerant landscaping, and water-efficient irrigation systems.
The centerpiece of the arena is its remarkable two-sided Halo Board scoreboard that encircles the venue with nearly an acre of lighting, covering 38,375 square feet—a feature that has already become a favorite among visitors.
Looking Ahead
The Intuit Dome is set to host NBA All-Star 2026 and all basketball events for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, putting Inglewood at the center of global sporting events for years to come.
According to the Inglewood Economic Development Department, these upcoming events are projected to generate significant revenue for local businesses and create additional employment opportunities for residents.
The Inglewood venue continues the city’s trajectory as an entertainment and sports hub of national and international significance, joining SoFi Stadium and the historic Forum in cementing Inglewood’s place on the global map.
Community members interested in touring the facility can participate in public tours offered weekly. For more information about tour schedules and upcoming events, visit the Inglewood City website or contact the Intuit Dome community relations office.
