COVID-19 Vaccine Program Has Begun: When Will You Be Able To Get The Vaccine?

California has begun receiving doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, from both Moderna and Pfizer. In accordance with CDC guidelines, California has laid out a rough timeline of when certain industries and age groups will be able to begin receiving the vaccine.

The vaccination program is structured as a group of phases, 1A, 1B, 1C and 2. Currently phase 1A is rolling out, where medical professionals and healthcare workers are being offered the Vaccine, as they are the most at-risk of contracting the virus.

Vaccine supplies remain scarce as over 500,000 medical workers remain to be vaccinated. LA County has begun transitioning some COVID-19 testing sites to handle Vaccinations, including the testing site at Dodger’s Stadium.

Both the Moderna and Pfizer versions of the COVID-19 vaccine require 2 doses, 3-4 weeks apart, to be fully effective.
