Inglewood residents can now access over 200 California State Parks for free through a program available at all Inglewood Public Libraries. The California State Library Parks Pass program allows library card holders to check out a special pass that provides free vehicle entry to participating state parks, beaches, and historic sites across California.

The initiative, a partnership between the California State Parks and the California State Library, aims to increase equitable access to California’s natural spaces by removing financial barriers. The program is part of California’s broader “Outdoors for All” initiative designed to help more residents experience the health and wellness benefits of spending time in nature.

Each Inglewood library location has received passes that can be borrowed by patrons with a valid library card. The pass covers entry for one vehicle with up to nine passengers or one motorcycle at more than 200 participating state park units, making it ideal for family outings and group adventures.

For Inglewood families, this program offers significant savings, as daily parking fees at California State Parks typically range from $5 to $12 per vehicle. Nearby participating locations include popular destinations such as Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, Los Angeles State Historic Park, and numerous beaches along the coast, all within driving distance of Inglewood.

“We’re excited to offer this resource to our community,” said a representative from the Inglewood Library system. “This program makes California’s beautiful parks and beaches more accessible to our residents, promoting outdoor recreation and family activities without the burden of entry fees.”

While the pass covers basic vehicle entry fees, it does not include additional costs such as camping fees, boat use, museum tours, or special events. The program also does not apply to national parks or city-operated parks. A complete list of participating parks is available at the library or on the California State Parks website.

Inglewood residents interested in borrowing a Parks Pass should contact their local library branch for availability and borrowing guidelines. The pass can be checked out for the time period specified by the library and must be returned for others to use. To get a library card, residents need only bring identification and proof of address to any Inglewood library location.
