LAWA’s Response to COVID-19 and Other Updates

New Safety Protocols Help You Travel Safe at LAX:
Memorial Day is historically among the busiest holiday weekends at LAX, but with the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic and Safer at Home orders, the airport expects to see far fewer passengers. For those with a need to fly in the coming days, the airport and its partners have implemented several changes that guests will see and experience. Learn more about what to do before you leave the airport, when you arrive, when going through security screening, while inside the terminal and when boarding your plane by reading press release for tips.

LAX Interim CEO Justin Erbacci Hosts LAX Coastal Chamber for Virtual Meeting:
On Monday, LAWA Interim Chief Executive Officer Justin Erbacci was joined by other airport officials and myself for a virtual happy hour meeting with the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce. Over video chat, Interim CEO Erbacci provided an update for attendees on the current realities of air travel and LAWA’s response to COVID-19. Just as he has communicated on a regular basis with our Board of Airport Commissioners, our LAWA employees and our greater LAX and VNY partners, Interim CEO Erbacci wants to make sure that our community leaders and partners are also aware of the work that we are doing and how we are confronting the challenge of this pandemic. This was just the first of several virtual meetings that are scheduled with local stakeholder groups and key community leaders in the coming weeks, including meetings with the Gateway LA Business Improvement District and the Alliance for a Regional Solution to Airport Congestion (ARSAC) this week.

LAWA Guides LAX Employers with Advice on Dealing with COVID-19:
On Thursday LAWA’s Business, Jobs & Social Responsibility Division partnered with LeadersUp to host two webinars, “COVID-19 Response Strategy Meeting” and “Resilience Through Crisis.” More than 50 LAX employers and subcontractors heard from a large panel of legal, workforce and talent development experts who shared best practices for how employers can rise to the challenges presented by COVID-19 to meet their current and future talent needs. Topics included the current state of business at LAWA, free workforce resources for employers, information for companies affected by layoffs and furloughs, and the impact of the CARES Act.
