Michelle Obama’s DNC Speech

Michelle Obama recently gave a speech at the opening night of the Democratic National Convention that sent a reality check across the whole nation. In her speech she states that being president doesn’t change who you are but it reveals who you are. She brings up further points about the children, which will be my focus of this story. The picture that America is painting for them is that as long as you are on top in the end, it doesn’t matter what happens to anyone else. You have to get it by any means. They are teaching our kids that the government doesn’t really care about us when they dismiss situations that have hurt us deeply. Our own president has downplayed a virus that has killed millions of people and our kids are sitting back watching this. They are seeing how only people who look certain ways are cared about and everyone gets treated like they aren’t worthy or that their life does not matter.

Please do me one favor. Take it upon yourself to educate your kids. Educate them on their history. Educate them on their rights. Explain to them the things that are going on in our world and make sure they know what’s right and wrong about it. Educate them on the election and the pros and cons of each candidate and get their perspective on it. It’s time to stop telling our kids that they are too young, won’t understand, and their feelings don’t matter. It’s all about how you teach them at home that will then dictate how they act when they get into the real world. You have to teach them while they are young so when they are older they aren’t still trying to figure things out. There will be a time when you have to let them go and be free and you want them to be prepared right ? So, please give our kids all the skills and knowledge that the world is not teaching them so when they get out there into the world they won’t be lost, but they will have a clear direction of what they are doing and where they are going.
