Tony P’s Dockside Grill, a popular waterfront restaurant and sports bar in Marina del Rey frequented by many South Bay and Inglewood area residents, will close its doors permanently at the end of June after nearly 30 years in business.

Owners Dan Ringwood and Tony Palermo announced their retirement and the closure of the establishment in a heartfelt message posted on the restaurant’s website. “It has been a great run, full of special moments and even more special people. We are proud of what we have accomplished in Marina del Rey since 1997, and we will always be thankful for the incredible community that has supported us every step along the way,” the statement read.

Located at 4445 Admiralty Way with panoramic harbor views, Tony P’s has been a staple dining destination since opening on Super Bowl Sunday in 1997. Just a 20-minute drive from Inglewood, the restaurant has been particularly known for its waterside location, extensive sports bar called the Tavern featuring nearly 30 TVs, and diverse menu offerings.

The restaurant gained popularity among South LA County diners for its seafood dishes, pastas, pizzas, and signature items like their French Onion Soup and brunch pancakes. Its bar became known for specialty drinks including Mai Tais and Bloody Marys, making it a destination for special occasions and game days.

Before establishing Tony P’s, the business partners opened their first restaurant called Teasers on the Promenade in Santa Monica in 1985, which operated until 2001. They purchased the former Charlie Brown’s restaurant location in Marina del Rey in 1996 and transformed it into what became Tony P’s Dockside Grill.

In their closing announcement, the owners encouraged patrons to visit during their final weeks of operation. “We hope you will stop by and share our last hurrah with us. Our customers and our employees have been like family to us, and I hope these final weeks are a celebration of all we have been through together,” they stated.

The closure marks the end of another longstanding dining establishment in the greater Los Angeles area, following a trend of veteran restaurants closing in recent years. For Inglewood residents who enjoy dining out in nearby coastal communities, this represents the loss of a reliable destination that has served the region for nearly three decades.
