The Los Angeles Rams have strengthened their linebacker corps with the re-signing of veteran Troy Reeder, bringing back a familiar face to Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium for what will be his sixth season with the organization.

Reeder, who was part of the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI championship team, returns to the franchise after beginning the 2024 season as a starter and defensive signal caller before being sidelined by a season-ending injury. His return addresses the team’s need for linebacker depth following Christian Rozeboom’s departure.

The six-year NFL veteran has a significant history with the Rams, having played in 72 games and started 37 for the team. Inglewood football fans may remember Reeder’s crucial contribution during the 2022 playoff run, particularly his pressure on Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray that forced an interception by David Long Jr., helping secure the victory in the Wild Card round.

Before his 2024 season was cut short by injury, Reeder had recorded 46 tackles through six games. While Omar Speights and newly signed Nate Landman are expected to be the starting linebackers, Reeder brings valuable experience and understanding of the defensive system.

“He’s the perfect type of player for a team looking to round out their roster,” noted a team source familiar with the signing. Reeder’s familiarity with the defense and respected presence in the locker room were cited as key factors in the decision to bring him back.

For Inglewood businesses surrounding SoFi Stadium, the Rams’ continued commitment to building a competitive roster maintains the economic momentum generated by NFL games. Local sports bars and restaurants near the stadium regularly see increased patronage during Rams home games, with veteran players like Reeder helping maintain fan engagement.

Reeder began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent from Delaware, playing for the Rams from 2019-2021 before a one-season stint with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022. After a brief preseason with the Minnesota Vikings, he returned to the Rams, where he has remained since.

With the NFL Draft approaching in a few weeks, the Rams’ decision to address linebacker depth through free agency gives them flexibility to target other positions of need when they make their selections.
