Rescue Teams Continue To Comb Surfside Condo Pile, Death Toll Climbs To 16

Workers continued to comb through masses of concrete and rubble at the site of the Champlain Towers South collapse, hopeful to find survivors before time runs out. Crews have battled fires within the pile, unstable conditions and rain, making recovery efforts difficult and slow going. 16 people have been confirmed dead, with more than 140 people still unaccounted for.

Champlain Towers South collapsed on Thursday June 24, about an hour after midnight.
