SoFi Stadium to Host Eight FIFA World Cup Matches in 2026, Including US Team Opener

Soccer fans in Inglewood and surrounding communities have reason to celebrate as FIFA has released the preliminary match schedule for the 2026 World Cup, confirming SoFi Stadium will host eight high-profile matches including the U.S. Men’s National Team opener.

The prestigious international tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will bring world-class soccer to Inglewood’s state-of-the-art venue capable of accommodating up to 100,000 spectators for these global sporting events.

SoFi Stadium’s World Cup schedule includes:

  • June 12, 2026: U.S. Men’s National Team Opening Match
  • June 15, 2026: Group Stage Match
  • June 18, 2026: Group Stage Match
  • June 21, 2026: Group Stage Match
  • June 25, 2026: U.S. Men’s National Team Group Stage Match
  • June 28, 2026: Round of 32 Knockout Match
  • July 2, 2026: Round of 32 Knockout Match
  • July 10, 2026: Quarterfinal Match

The tournament will begin with an opening match in Mexico City before making its way to Los Angeles, where the home team will play its first match. The 2026 World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 104 matches across sixteen North American cities.

“Hosting multiple World Cup matches, especially the U.S. team’s opener, will bring unprecedented attention and economic activity to Inglewood,” said Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts in a statement to the Inglewood Times. “We’re preparing to welcome visitors from around the world to our community.”

Local businesses are already developing plans to accommodate the influx of international visitors expected during the month-long tournament. The Inglewood Chamber of Commerce estimates the economic impact could exceed $250 million for the local economy.

Fans interested in attending matches can register for ticket information through the official FIFA website. SoFi Stadium is also offering premium suite options for the matches, though prices have not yet been announced.

In addition to the matches in Inglewood, California will host six more World Cup games at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The tournament final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
