We take a moment today to remember those lost on that day. 2996 lives were lost, including 412 first responders who committed the ultimate sacrifice-to save countless people in the buildings.
In the years since, we have picked ourselves up, and rebuilt ourselves to be stronger, more resolute. We cleaned up ground zero and rebuilt it stronger. We picked ourselves up and continued on with our lives. But we will never forget those we lost that day. And we thank those who put their lives on the line to protect our country, our people, and our way of life.
