Two Los Angeles Police Department officers and a civilian driver were transported to the hospital following a collision at Century Boulevard and Figueroa Street early Thursday morning, approximately three miles east of Inglewood’s city limits.

The crash, which occurred around midnight on April 4, involved an LAPD patrol car and a white sedan at the intersection that serves as a major thoroughfare connecting Inglewood to South Los Angeles communities.

According to preliminary reports, the civilian driver was temporarily trapped in their vehicle and had to exit through the passenger side door. Firefighters evaluated the driver at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

Both LAPD officers were also transported to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The officers are assigned to the LAPD Southeast Division, which covers neighborhoods adjacent to Inglewood’s eastern border.

Witnesses noted that the police vehicle’s emergency lights were activated at the time they observed the scene, though it remains unclear whether the officers were responding to a call when the collision occurred or if the lights were turned on after the impact.

The intersection of Century Boulevard and Figueroa Street is heavily traveled by Inglewood residents commuting to and from neighboring communities, with Century Boulevard serving as a major east-west corridor connecting Inglewood to South Los Angeles.

Traffic safety at major intersections remains a concern for residents throughout the area. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation has previously identified Century Boulevard as a high-injury corridor in need of safety improvements to reduce collision risks.

The crash is under investigation by LAPD’s traffic division. Anyone who witnessed the collision is encouraged to contact LAPD Southeast Division with information.
