The 35-year-old postal worker was shot around 11:05 a.m. near the intersection of Century Boulevard and Central Avenue, an area that borders communities served by both Inglewood and Compton residents. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the incident and immediately established a perimeter to search for the shooter.

Aerial footage from news helicopters showed officers conducting an intensive search for the suspect, described as a man wearing all-black clothing. The postal worker was transported to an area hospital, though their condition remained unknown as of Monday afternoon.

Police confirmed that no property was taken from the scene, leaving the motive for the shooting unclear. The daylight attack on a federal employee performing essential community service has heightened safety concerns for postal workers throughout South Los Angeles.

The Green Meadows neighborhood, located just east of Inglewood, is home to many families who rely on consistent mail delivery for essential services. The attack disrupts not only mail service but also the sense of security for residents who interact daily with their letter carriers.

As the suspect remains at large, residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities. The attack on a federal employee carries serious penalties and has drawn resources from multiple law enforcement agencies.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
