Man and Infant Killed in South LA Crash, Two Others Hospitalized

A man and an infant were killed in a violent crash late Monday night in South Los Angeles, according to authorities.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a collision reported in the 4600 block of South Western Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that a 40-year-old man and an infant of unknown gender had been pronounced dead at the scene.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported two additional victims—a man and woman, both 30 years old—to a local trauma center in what was described as “at least serious condition,” according to videographers who documented the scene.

This stretch of Western Avenue, approximately 4 miles from Inglewood city limits, is a major north-south corridor frequently traveled by residents throughout South Los Angeles communities, including those from Inglewood and Compton.

The LAPD’s South Traffic Division is investigating the circumstances of the collision. Authorities have not yet released details about the cause of the crash or the identities of those involved.
