Medication Disposal Event: Culver City Hosts Drug Take Back Day This Saturday
Inglewood residents looking to safely dispose of expired or unused medications will have a convenient opportunity this weekend, as the nearby Culver City Police Department participates in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26.
The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Culver City Police Department headquarters, located at 4040 Duquesne Avenue, just south of Culver Boulevard. This location is approximately 15 minutes by car from central Inglewood, making it an accessible option for local residents.
Community members are encouraged to bring prescription and over-the-counter medications for responsible disposal, with no questions asked. Prescription labels do not need to be removed from bottles, streamlining the process for participants. All collected items will be incinerated at the end of the day under the supervision of an on-site Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent.
This DEA-led initiative aims to prevent drug misuse and accidental poisoning while promoting environmentally safe disposal methods. Proper medication disposal helps prevent prescription drugs from contaminating water supplies and keeps them out of the hands of those who might misuse them.
For Inglewood residents who cannot attend this event, the Inglewood Police Department offers a year-round medication disposal box in their lobby at 1 Manchester Boulevard during regular business hours. However, the DEA Take Back Day event provides an additional weekend option for those who work during weekdays.
The event comes amid continued efforts across Los Angeles County to curb opioid abuse and ensure medications are not left unused or accessible in homes. According to Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, proper disposal of unused medications is an important step in preventing prescription drug misuse in our communities.
Residents with questions about what items are accepted can contact the Culver City Police Department at (310) 253-6202.
