New Parking Rules Coming to Inglewood Streets
Inglewood residents should prepare for changes to street parking regulations as the city implements new restrictions designed to improve accessibility and address growing parking demands in residential neighborhoods.
The city is updating current parking enforcement hours, which currently run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on street sweeping days. Under the new regulations, restrictions will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on designated street sweeping and trash collection days.
According to city officials, this adjustment aims to provide sufficient time for both services while freeing up curbside parking for residents during more hours of the day.
“Look up before you park,” advises the Public Works Department, as updated “No Parking” signage is now being installed throughout District 2 in the northwest corridor of the city. The rollout will extend to other districts throughout the year.
Residents should note these important guidelines:
- Place trash (black), recycle (blue), and green waste (organics) carts out for collection by 7:00 a.m. on designated service days
- Ensure no vehicles are parked at the curb during the posted restricted hours
- Be aware that residential parking permits do not exempt vehicles from street sweeping restrictions
The city will implement a grace period during the transition to allow residents time to adjust to the new schedule before issuing citations.
These changes come as Inglewood faces increasing parking challenges due to larger household sizes, more vehicles per household, and the influx of visitors attending events at venues like the Kia Forum and SoFi Stadium.
While a permit parking program has already been instituted to address some of these challenges, the revised street sweeping and trash collection hours represent ongoing efforts to enhance parking accessibility for local residents.
