Registration Opens for Popular Youth Performing Arts Summer Camps Across Los Angeles
Performing Arts Workshops (PAW) has announced registration is now open for their summer programs across eight Los Angeles locations, offering creative opportunities for children from Inglewood, Compton, and surrounding communities.
This summer’s schedule includes four two-week musical theater camps featuring children’s adaptations of popular shows including “Wicked,” “Hogwarts School Musical,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Barbie Dream Musical.” Additionally, eight one-week specialty camps will focus on skills ranging from Actor’s Reel and Stage FX Makeup to Guitar, Photography, and Debate.
Designed for children ages 5 to 14, the program emphasizes inclusivity with no audition requirements. “We welcome anyone who signs up as long as they are in our age range,” explained Cheryl Appleman, founder and president of PAW. “Over the first few days of musical theater camp, our teachers work with the kids to gauge their strengths and comfort levels.”
The program’s approach focuses on building confidence rather than competition. “On the third day, the campers are assigned a role based on what they would be most comfortable playing. We feel this approach to theater bolsters every child’s self-confidence and love for the arts,” Appleman added.
Many local families combine a two-week musical theater session with specialty camps, creating a comprehensive summer arts experience tailored to each child’s interests.
The organization has earned recognition from L.A. Parent Magazine as Best After School Program, Best Summer Camp, and Best Live Children’s Theater, making it a respected option for families seeking quality arts education.
For South Los Angeles area families interested in summer arts programs, PAW offers various options including tuition assistance and scholarships. Registration information, location details, and financial aid applications are available at the organization’s website: performingartsworkshops.com.
With limited spots available at each location, interested families are encouraged to register early to secure placement in preferred programs and locations.
